The body achieves what the mind believes.
What is BodyTalk?
Have you ever wondered what your body is trying to tell you? BodyTalk is a complementary wellbeing modality that takes a holistic approach to the relationship between the body, mind and emotions.
A central idea within the BodyTalk system is that the different parts of us are interconnected and communicate with one another. BodyTalk explores this relationship through a structured process that uses gentle techniques, including neuromuscular biofeedback, specific hand positions and light tapping.
Rather than focusing on one particular symptom or area, BodyTalk considers the individual as a whole.
Communication and Balance
Within the BodyTalk system, wellbeing is viewed in terms of balance and communication between the different aspects of the body and mind. These may include physical systems and structures, as well as emotional, mental and energetic aspects of our experience.
The BodyTalk approach is based on the idea that the body has an innate capacity for balance and that the demands and experiences of everyday life can affect how we feel and function. A BodyTalk session provides an opportunity to explore these connections and bring greater awareness to what may be relevant for you at that particular time.
How does BodyTalk work?
During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner uses neuromuscular biofeedback as part of the BodyTalk process.
A series of simple yes-or-no questions is used to guide the session and identify areas that the BodyTalk system indicates may be relevant.
The practitioner then uses specific hand positions and gentle tapping techniques as part of the BodyTalk balancing process.
The client remains comfortably clothed throughout the session.
The Three Tapping Points
An important part of the BodyTalk process involves three key areas: the head, heart and navel.
Head
The head forms part of the tapping sequence used within the BodyTalk process, bringing the identified focus of the session into awareness.
Heart
The heart or sternum area is incorporated into the sequence as part of the BodyTalk balancing process.
Navel
The navel completes the sequence and is included as part of the BodyTalk process.
Breathing is also incorporated into sessions. The practitioner may invite you to use comfortable, conscious breathing during the tapping process.
What happens during a BodyTalk session?
Your session begins with an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to BodyTalk and anything you would like to focus on.
You remain fully clothed and comfortably positioned throughout the session.
The practitioner then follows the BodyTalk process using neuromuscular biofeedback, gentle hand positions and light tapping.
There is no deep tissue massage, manipulation or forceful physical technique.
Every session is individual. The BodyTalk process guides what is explored rather than following a predetermined treatment for a particular condition.
What might you experience?
Everyone experiences a BodyTalk session differently.
Some people enjoy the opportunity to slow down and focus inward, while others may notice changes in how they feel during or following a session.
There is no particular response or outcome that you need to achieve. The session is an opportunity to experience the BodyTalk process and notice what arises for you.
